Designing Edge Workers That Respect Their Limits

Laptops and edge devices can become useful workers when the engine gives them bounded tasks instead of pretending they are pooled infrastructure.

Edge workers are useful when the workload is honest about the machine. A small local device can transcode video, run quantized inference, preprocess limited data segments, and support annotation workflows.

Aero treats edge devices as independent workers. They do not pool memory. They do not replace GPU training. They do bounded work close to where data is created, then sync useful metadata back to the engine.
